This is my submission to the Numeracy for Live Consultation.
It focuses on the experiences of our lowest attaining 25% of students.
While there are many things which could, and should, be done to address seemingly endless time they spend failing in schools, this submission focuses on two simple changes that offer substantial improvements to the progress and experiences of these students.
1. Develop an online tool which continually adapts to directly address students’ needs, right back to year 1, and encourage Ofsted to regard its appropriate use positively.
2. Allow functional skills qualifications to contribute to progress 8 scores.
